SBCS takes action in saving the Environment

350 Together Guam can bring CO2 down.
On October 24, the International Day of Climate Action, Santa Barbara Catholic School will join people all over the world in taking a stance for a safe climate future.  The 8th graders, together with their teachers will participate in the Reforest Guam 350 movement by helping plant 350 seedlings in the Cetti Bay area.  Likewise, members of the Youth Crime Watch (YCW) will plant trees and participate in a clean-up activity around the SBCS campus.  This week, SBCS has taken other concrete steps in increasing public awareness on the need to address solutions to the climate crisis now threatening the world.

1. Students in all grade levels joined the Island wide 350 Poster Making and Essay Writing Contest on the theme: 350 Help Save our Planet.

2.  No plastic spoons and forks at the cafeteria every Wednesday starting Oct. 21, 2009.

3.  No styrofoam plates, plastic spoons and forks will be used during monthly faculty meetings.

4.  350 Period:  Turn off airconditioners in all classes on the last period every Thursday starting on Oct. 22, 2009.

5. 6th graders will start a “vegetable garden” on the vacant lot in front of the Science Lab on Oct. 23, 2009.

6.  350 Awareness School Assembly on Oct. 23, 2009, 7:45 A.M. at the Petrie Gym.
