“Everything happened so quickly once I completed the application and interview process with the school over the summer. Within the week I was on a plane heading to Guam to start working,” said Mojas.
Mojas taught physical education and coached middle school basketball and track and field during his employment at Ateneo.
“Being here on Guam means learning and adjusting with the Spartan curriculum and sports program,” said Mojas. He added that learning and working under basketball head coaches Roger Ramos and Julito Tingson has been great for him.
Tingson recognizes Mojas’ ability to elevate the basketball program at Santa Barbara and welcomes the additional workouts and training introduced to the program.
“We are a developing team this year and our goal is to teach the fundamentals to the players,” said Tingson.
Pulling it all together is the support from the players’ parents, who share their passion for the team, attending games and cheering on their squad.
“It’s great to see the parents out in the stands supporting the kids,” said Tingson.
Who are the Spartans of 2011? The roster includes Arvin Flores, Luke Fernandez, Ray Gudmalin, Jeffrey Ochavillo, Jason Onedera, Joshua Tingson, Justin Igros, Justin Balicha, Darran Castro, Yuji Conales, Gionn Buenavido, Chino Cruz, Ryan Villanueva and Jeb Eugenio.
