Santa Barbara students, faculty, alumni and friends gathered Sept. 5 in boisterous celebration of the school’s remarkable 60th anniversary of exemplary educational service to the island.

Amidst the throngs of students and alumni cheering in celebration it’s hard to imagine that Santa Barabara’s first principal, Sister Mary Redempta, and the September 1950 inaugural class of 140 students, would have had any idea of the transformation that would take place as a result of their educational pursuits.

“The celebration was not only about looking back at our humble beginnings, but also time to celebrate the future and what the school has meant to our community,” Sister Jeanette Marie Pangelinan, the school’s principal said during the celebration.

According to Pangelinan, the school strives to educate and produce well rounded students who are rooted in faith.

“We teach our students the importance of being productive members of society, and our alumni are only further testimony to the success we have had,” she says.  Read More…
