By: Jhoanna Co
Santa Barbara Catholic School held a successful Ice Cream Festival on Saturday, November 18. Now on its fifteenth year, the SBCS Ice Cream Festival often boasts of sweet treats from famous brands like Haagen Daz, Dreyer’s, Marble Slab, Blue Bunny, Nestle, Magnolia Ice Cream and more!
The day started off with an Ice Cream Song & Dance number from the littlest SBCS students, the K4 class. This was followed by a rousing rendition of
“Rock & Roll is Here to Stay” and “Lolly Pop” by the SBCS Honor Choir. SBCS students Marianne Fernando and Juliana Fernando rendered a ballet dance. Different classes also showcased their talent like the 5th Graders performing the Filipino dance “Subli”; the 4th Graders performing a latin inspired dance to the song Despacito, and 8th graders dancing to Grupo Heavy and also singing with their ukulele. The guests were also treated to performances from Step-up Dancers, LA DANCE, The Little Zin Shop, Urban Studio, SKIPP Entertainment, and Danz Jazz Studio.
What made this year special was the addition of carnival games, a jump house, and a mini-train ride! Beaudy of Fun Forte also provided awesome greeters dressed as ice cream clowns.
“They had so much more activities this year, and I enjoyed
it very much!”, sixth grader Mason shared.
SBCS PTO Officers and members from different grade levels organized the carnival booths obstacle course, and ice cream photo booth. Student emcees for the day were Isabella Dangan, Caleb Murphy, Juliana Lacson, Ethan Alvarez, Madel Sibal, Arvin Fermo, Ayezah Bagro, Shaniel Javelosa together with PTO President Mr. Ron De Lima.
“This year’s Ice Cream Festival would not have been possible without the support of our generous sponsors: Foremost, Triple J 5 Star Wholesale, Luen Fung Enterprises, Micronesian Brokers, Mt. Lam Lam, Dickerson & Quinn, and Quality Distributors. We are really grateful for them. Thank you also to all the Teacher and Parent Volunteers! We salute you!,” said Mrs. Miriam Piana, Events Coordinator at SBCS
