12 students and 12 teachers go head to head in the 2016 Urban Spelling Bee Competition. After a fun and exciting 6 rounds, 3 winners were declared: Christian Reyes 8B, Kayla Arellano 8A, and Ms. Margarita Pangelinan.
Student Appreciation Day began with a parade around the school, in support of the American Cancer Society’s “Relay Recess” Education Awareness Campaign in Schools. Students carried educational posters and wore a purple shirt or blouse in support of cancer victims and survivors. After the parade, a short presentation by representatives and volunteers of the American Cancer Society was held in the Petrie Gymnasium. Concluding the morning event was a short Zumba exercise that got everyone excited and pumped up. To show appreciation for their students, teachers treated them to a “Popcorn and Movie Day” in their respective homeroom classes.
