Readventure Kick-Off 2014 | Read for the Record: Bunny Cakes

October 21, 2014. SBCS supports Jumpstart’s premiere national campaign, Read for the Record, that mobilizes millions of children and adults to celebrate literacy by participating in the largest shared reading experience.

At the kick-off event, SBCS students joined millions around the country in reading the children’s book “Bunny Cakes”, a comical story of sibling bonding and birthday shenanigans, by bestselling author and illustrator Rosemary Wells, in support of Jumpstart’s mission: to work toward the day every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed.

Lyn Sazon wins 3rd Place (6-8 Division) in the 2014 Guam Red Ribbon Essay Contest

Congratulations to 6th grader Lyn M. Sazon from 6B for winning 3rd place in the Middle School Division (6-8) of the recently held 2014 Guam Red Ribbon Essay Contest. The contest is part of the Guam’s Red Ribbon Coalition campaign to promote awareness against dangers of drug abuse.

She was invited to read her essay during the Community Outreach held at the Micronesia Mall Center Court. The theme for this year’s campaign is “Love Yourself, Be Drug Free!”. National Red Ribbon Week will be celebrated nationally from Oct. 23 to 31.
