2009 SBCS Thanksgiving Mass

November 25, 2009. SBCS Community give thanks to God by attending the Thanksgiving Mass with Fr. Dan Bien as the main celebrant. SBCS students offered canned goods to be donated to Catholic Social Services and Kamalen Karidat.

SBCS teachers participate in the 22nd Annual Language Arts Conference

22nd Language Arts Conference

November 7, 2009.  Guam Marriott Resort.  We would like to congratulate our SBCS teachers, Mrs. Cecilia C. Padios, Mrs. Maria Consuelo G. Gozum and Mrs. Arleen B. Suplido for their presentation “THE PROBLEM WITH WORD PROBLEMS IS THE WORDS!” during the recently concluded 22nd Language Arts Conference at the Guam Marriott Resort.  They shared their techniques in solving Math problems with the application of the bar method, a concept of Singapore Math. This has been proven to be an effective way of solving any type of real life problem in Math.  A tried and tested curriculum, Singapore Math is a growing trend in the United States and is slowly being integrated into the SBCS Math curriculum.

Sr. Brigid Perez shares her ministry at the Alee Shelter to our 7th grade students

November 6, 2009.  As part of their social justice lesson in Religion class, Ms. Bernadette Alcantara and her 7th grade students collected, sorted and boxed toys, clothes, books and shoes for donations to Alee Shelter.  Sister Brigid Perez, RSM was invited to talk about her ministry and mission in the Alee Shelter with the SBCS 7th graders during the day of giving of donations.  We thank our parents and students who wholeheartedly supported this endeavor.

Sister Brigid shared about her vocation as a Sister of Mercy and her role in uplifting the condition of abused women and children, the importance of promoting a safe environment for all that is free of human suffering and attending to those who needs help.

Alee shelter provides temporary shelter to abused women and children who are victims of domestic violence.  If you are interested to help Alee Shelter or if you know a child who is being abused and needs help you can contact 475-2653 / 2672 or their hotline 648-Hope or 648-4673.

1st Place in Guam Energy Office Poster Making Contest

November 5, 2009. Westin Resort.  Congratulations to Luke S. Fernandez for winning First place Over-All (Middle School Division) in the recently concluded Guam Energy Office Poster Making Contest with the theme: Our Future, Our Responsibility- Be Energy Efficient.  Luke is a 7th grade student at Santa Barbara Catholic School.  

He is joined in the picture by his Art teacher, Mr. Frederick Gonzalez during the awarding at Westin Resort Spa.
