Catholic Schools Week Day 4

February 4, 2010 • Mrs. Arleen Suplido was recognized as SBCS Teacher of the Year on the 4th day celebration of Catholic Schools Week. SBCS Teachers and Staff were also recognized for their dedication and hard work by Sister Maria Rosario Gaite and Sister Jeanette Marie. Our students extended their hands in prayers as a way of blessing our dedicated teachers and staff. It was followed by the Students Talent Showdown and Volleyball Jam in the afternoon where our SBCS Teachers played with our Spartan Students. Our teachers won 3 out of 4 games with our students.

Catholic Schools Week Day 2 & 3

February 2-3, 2010 • SBCS celebrated second day of Catholic Schools Week with an Academic Challenge Bowl for Grades 3 to 5 and Grades 6 to 8. The third day started of with a Nature Prayer and Tree Planting in the morning followed by a talk, “Turning Trash Into Treasure” by Fr. Xavier Alpasa, SJ.

“You Are Special” a Special Presentation by SBCS Teachers

February 2, 2010 • SBCS faculty members presented a short play “You Are Special” to our K4 to Grade 3 students during the Catholic Schools Week celebration. An adaption of the story “You are Special” by Max Lucado, it was directed by Mrs. Mariam Gonzalez. Congratulations to our dear teachers for presenting a very heart warming and wonderful play.

Catholic Schools Week Day 1

February 1, 2010 • SBCS commenced the celebration of Catholic Schools Week with a Eucharistic Celebration at Santa Barbara Parish in the morning followed by the Father Duenas ROTC Presentation and Big Brother/Sister-Little Brother/Sister DEAR(Drop Everything and Read) Time in the afternoon.

SBCS joins Islandwide Oratorical Contest

January 30, 2010 • Maurissa Sayama, an 8th Grade student, represented Santa Barbara Catholic School in the Islandwide Oratorical Contest.  This year’s theme was “Free the Nation of  Underage Intoxication”.  With her in the photo are Sister Jeanette Marie Pangelinan and her proud parents.  Congratulations Maurissa!

Chain for Life Rally 2010

January 24, 2010 • Santa Barbara Catholic School community supported pro-life advocacy against abortion in the Chain For Life Rally held at the ITC Intersection in Tamuning, Guam, USA.
