Sexual Abuse Prevention Month

In observance of April as the Sexual Abuse Prevention Month, Santa Barbara Catholic School daily prayed the petitions and Prayer for Healing given by the Archdiocese. An altar was set in the cafeteria to commemorate the victims. On April 26, 2017, the school community wore light blue ribbons, and observed Silent Wednesday the whole day in the hallways and in the cafeteria to show their solidarity with victims of abuse.

Project Strengthening Teens Awareness and Resources (STAR)

A 1-hour community outreach presentation with the 8th-grade students on what the Guam Coalition Against Sexual and Family Violence offers the community as well as information on the dynamics of domestic assault and dating violence, sexual assault. victim rights, and where to get services. The presentation was held last April 24, 2017, at 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. at the SBCS Multi-Purpose Room 2.

Tokyo Junior Sprint swim meet

Congratulations to Santa Barbara student Don Louis (bottom row far right) and Guam’s Tsunami Club for competing in the Tokyo Junior Sprint swim meet on March 4 and 5, 2017. Don Louis did two official events and one exhibition event on seventh grade level. During his two official events he finished first on his 100 meters Individual medley(IM) heat and finished 17th overall on that event. On his other official event he finished 3rd on his heat, the 50 meters backstroke and finished 12th overall out of 45 kids. He did well overall for a first timer and his Japanese kids competitor are among the best in swimming.
