George Kallingal, Ph.D. Presentation for 6th, 7th, & 8th Grade Students, Parents, & Teachers of all Grade Levels

On Wednesday, November 24, 2010, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students, parents and teachers are invited to attend a presentation by George Kallingal, Ph.D, at 1:15 PM, in the SBCS Gymnasium. Dr. George Kallingal will discuss the Importance of Education in Addition to a Strong Connection to Spirituality. His powerful presentation combines academic achievement, spirituality, and realities of adolescence into sharp perspective. We urge that all middle grade students attend the presentation with their parents and teachers.

Short Biodata

Dr. George Kallingal is a Professor Emeritus at University of Guam. He was a Professor in the College of Education for about 30 years. He retired as a Full Professor. He was given the prestigious title of Professor Emeritus for his outstanding achievements in teaching, research, and service. He continues to teach at the University whenever he is asked to do so. He has received several awards: selected as Professor-of-the-year Award, nominated by the College of Education for the Researcher-of-the-year Award, and Service Award. He has published in books and journals and has presented papers internationally, nationally, and locally.

Dr.Kallingal received his Master’s and Ph.D.degrees from Michigan State University. He taught at Michigan State University for 8 years, and the years after he taught at the University of Guam. He completed 2 years of post-doctoral internship and was licensed as a Clinical Psychologist. He practiced at the Department of Mental Health, DISID, Correction, GMH and at Kallingal’s Medical Clinic for 32 years. He has also testified in court several times as an Expert Witness. He has served on many Boards and Commissions. He was one of the founding members of the Guam Board of Allied Health Examiners and served as its Chair for 25 years. He served as the Vice-President and President of the Licensing Commission for Professionals. Dr. Kallingal was a recipient of the Karl Houser Award by the American Psychological Association for his work in Psychology. He gets involved in many community activities.

Dr.Kallingal is a Catholic, born in India brought up in the US. He is married to Dr. Matilda Kallingal, an Internal Medicine Physician. They have 2 children: a daughter who is married and has two children, and a son who has a Ph.D. in Neuroscience and is currently working on his MD.
